......沈祖堯即將成為中大新任校長。
　　
我朋友沈祖堯在沒「？」只有「！」的情況下，當上了香港中文大學第七任校長。

這位在沙士一疫聲名鵲起的亞洲英雄，以舊約人物約書亞「你當剛強壯膽」的精神，毅然接下沉重的棒子，走那不知道的路。

記得兩年前到沙田威爾斯醫院為醫護人員演講，他著我留下作短暫的交談，告知他已承允任逸夫書院院長，分享了他對新職的期許，希望陶造這一代大學生的心靈，走出負面、被動……。我就怕他承受不了大學的政治。

從他在消息曝光後與中大生的一席話，表白一種真樸、堅毅的情操，「決不做一個耍你的校長」。我確信他在過去幾年的磨礪中，真的走出了醫院的白色巨塔，擺脫了沙士期間的榮辱安危，將一種冷靜而熱誠的醫者心，放進更宏遠的生命改造工程。



未來，不一定是面對危機，卻必然充滿不確定性，作為領袖，正要在任何環境都具備調適的能力。大學校長是知識分子的典型，既要走出烏托邦式的理想夢魘，也不能成為市場與權力的附庸。不是去贏取庸俗的掌聲，而是把整個人贏過來，透過思想與洞察力獲得社會的尊重，在任何情況下，都確保與珍惜最清澈明淨的話說權，是改變時代的推手。

以色列人在曠野兜兜轉轉四十年，有些人早已迷失了前進的目標──進迦南，約書亞也走過生命的兜轉期，卻臨危受命，肩負起領袖的角色，其實是上帝的預備與揀選，走過的路，一步一腳印，都指向那條似乎是不知道，卻是命定的方向。



......新世紀是數碼年代，講求速度，少講規律。未來的領袖，是領導一群領袖的人，因為人人都可以成為領袖。也就是說，他需要凝聚一群志同道合的人，整合起來，變成一組有力的資源，有效地放在有競爭力的方向去。

沈祖堯的血液中也流著這樣的領袖質素，正如Peter Drucker說︰「領袖的主要職責，是成為搭建舞台的人」，社會和教會舞台領袖凋零，因為太注重自己搭建舞台。

懇切記念----錢北斗先生 (斗叔)

FES & AFC 前總幹事錢北斗先生 (斗叔)，於今日下午三時左右中風，已送往伊利莎伯醫院救治，情況危殆，請懇切記念。

Please pray for Mr. Benny Chin (former executive director of AFC & FES) as he got a stroke and has just completed a brain surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Kowloon-HK). Benny is still in coma, and the coming few hours until the morning is the most critical time for him.



Benny's daughter was in China and has rushed back to HK at midnight. His son has just left Vancouver this afternoon. and is on his way to HK. Please pray for the Chin's family at this critical moment.

大江大海 • 一夢相承

從大江•走向大海

「所有的顛沛流離，最後都由大江走向大海；所有的生離死別，都發生在某一個車站、碼頭。上了船，就是一生……」近日拜讀近代華人作家龍應台，號稱「醞釀十年，閉關四百天」而成的十五萬字巨著：《大江大海一九四九》。作者重新向新一代訴說，六十年前從大江走向大海的一代，許許多多已被遺忘的生命故事。字裡行間，除了感受到文字揮發的深厚力量，更再次認定：為了下一代，故事需要跨代相傳。



一甲子•宣教長征

在深情的文字背後，我想起華人學生宣教工作，在過去一個甲子所走過的長征路：

•在風潮奮起的四十年代，上帝使用「中國學聯」(IVF China)，在神州大地復興了一代的中國青年，並為其後的艱辛歲月，預備了眾多至死忠心的僕人。

•山河變色後的五十年代，神使用艾得理牧師等一眾「内地會」宣教士，在台灣及香港等地，延續學生福音火炬，並分別催生了「台灣校園福音團契」及「香港基督徒學生福音團契」(同於1957年正式成立)。

•五、六十年代，台港及東南亞留學生前赴北美的留學潮高漲，上帝透過周主培牧師，在1963年於美國華盛頓成立「基督使者協會」，透過各城市的大學校園查經班，帶領海外華人留學生歸主。

•六十年代中期，上帝又感動另一對「内地會」宣教士，曾於中國四川及東南亞事奉的徐松齡牧師夫婦(Rev. Stephen Knights)，關注本土華人學生的福音需要，並透過周主培牧師的支持，在1972年成立「加拿大基督使者協會」。

•八十年代，隨著中國大陸留學政策的開放，大量學生學者湧至北美大學校園，並促成「美國校園福音團契」的成立(1992年)，透過《海外校園雜誌》等文字事工，在學生學者當中見証福音，而「加拿大校園福音團契」亦相繼於1998年於多倫多創立。



四十載•一夢相承

每當前赴徐松齡牧師夫婦位於多倫多市中心Mount Pleasant的墓前追思，憑吊在墓碑上十二位「内地會」宣教士的名字，除了感到與橫跨百載的宣教故事一脈相連之外，更加强烈意識到，從頭一天起，「使者」就已經與「學生」、「宣教」及「中國」不能分割！在「使者」迎向四十的未來三年，求天父叫曾經感動眾學運前輩的聖靈，加倍感動這一代的「使者群體」(董事、同工、學生、義工及支持者)，呼召我們在全球注目中國崛起的年代，傳承學生宣教的使命！

Defining Moment of Leadership

What a blessing to attend Rev. Sam Chan's new course at Tyndale on "Leadership in the Multicultural Postmodern Church"! Amidst of all the hectic schedules, Pastor Sam's class has been a weekly refresher for my mind & soul! Here is a simple but inspiring quote on leadership, 100% original from Pastor Sam:

這是上主的福音 !

昨天參加了同道友人Edmund 的按牧典禮，在長達2.5小時的聖公會禮儀之中，有三個「感動位」：

悲情

當Anglican Coalition in Canada (ACiC)新上任的伍德賢主教進行開場白，講到由於同性婚姻理由，一群福音派的堂會，在數年前離開「加拿大聖公會」的時候，竟然出現了數秒梗咽不能發聲的情況，可以想像，這些年來走過一條怎樣的悲情窄路。

聖言

証道之前，是全體站立宣讀福音的環節，＋分感受上帝話語實在是信仰群體的中心，而在讀完福音之後，台上傳來：「這是上主的福音」，真是一句不折不扣擲地有聲的宣告！

聖禮

按立禮成後，何牧師隨即主持了洗禮及聖餐。去慣非禮儀教會，習惯將聖餐盤左傳右傳(重驚死倒瀉杯盤)的我，當在何牧師手中接過聖餐餅時，十分感受到「被牧養」(being ministered) 的滋味，pastoral ministry is really an up-close & personal encounter!

Spirituality of Canoeing

Dr. Paul Stevens (Regent College Professor Emeritus of Marketplace Theology and Leadership) was recently interviewed on CBC's Tapestry program on "The Spirituality of Canoeing". Based on an essay Paul wrote called The Song of the Paddle, he outlines four reasons why he believes that canoeing is a spiritual experience.
